Another VWF already??
A very, very quick update this time around 😛 Late in the game, special battle boxes that have 3 lines show up. These also needed to be hacked to have a VWF. Luckily for us, it was almost another instance where I could copy-paste existing code and then tweak a few things and voila. Only took an hour, too 😯
So that pushes this item on the to-do list to 50% now:
Hack special text boxes and other important things that appear later in the game. This will be a real pain.
The only thing left to hack battle-wise is a similar text routine used at the end of the game. It’s a little bit different than the normal battle text stuff, but let’s hope the coding is basically the same. If so, some more copy-pasting-tweaking may be possible.

I am creating a full MOTHER 3 animation, I need voice actors and I was wondering if you were willing.
Pick any character that interests you or you think can fit your voice.
I know you are a very busy person, but your vocie will not be needed for some time, possibly even after this project is done.

Anyway, I found the code I’ll need to hack for the final battle. It looks very similar to the main VWF, though a straight copy-paste won’t work, some extra tweaking will be necessary. I could probably finish it today, but I got a whole lot of work to do so maybe some other time 😛

Anna: No, I don’t know how well it’s doing, but seeing as Adult Swim keeps getting new episodes, it can’t be doing too bad. Also, I think the first DVD set came out today officially (or maybe it was yesterday or tomorrow).
If only I could figure out when Shin chan was on, consistently. It keeps getting shifted around or I keep forgetting what day of the week it is…something like that.
I’ve seen it a few times and it was funny.

Oh and partly in preparation for Mother 3, I got a CycloDS and the ezflash 3-in-1 for slot 2. The menu patch works perfectly. 🙂 (Just don’t freak out like I did at first when it says that it’s too big to load and didn’t read any instructions to learn that you need to use the OTHER mode for 32 MB games :D) I very much reccomend it, there is some cool DS homebrew out there and it’s nice to have all my games on one device, carting around all those cards is annoying. 🙁
Also for those of you with a Wii and need to forget the pain of not being able to play Mother 3 for a good while, My Life as a King is INCREDIBLY addicting and fun. Totally worth 1500 Wii Points, and to me, worth the 1600 more for the downloadable extras (but you don’t need them to finish the game or anything). I want to go home and play it so bad, I was up until 5 AM last night ^^;

So, I get up this morning, BAM!, new update! I get home from teaching, BAM!, another update! Ok, forget Kraken and Thirsty Coil Snakes. This calls for the dreaded Carbon Dog/Diamond Dog to Runaway Dog comparison! (And yep, that’s quite a difference in power.) So, you guys make Carbon Dog and Diamond Dog seem like Runaway Dogs in hacking skill! You’ll be pulverizing Ghosts of Starmen in no time!

Nah I mean you aren’t taking into account that the Main Script fixing thing will be so long/is so important that it counts as 40% of the total hacking.
Now all we need are the 2 major hacks done and then Mato does what Mato does best, translate. I hope that the flashing text issue does get fixed and I can see the stars for the battle memory. Mato, don’t neglect real life work just for us please. I like what you are doing but don’t get in trouble for not doing work you are paid to do.

there are only 2 things left hacking wise that have 0% done, and one of them is that screen disclaimer thing ( no idea what that is, but it doesn’t sound super hard judging by what you’ve done) and the rest of the stuff is at least a quarter done! I thought you said this will most likely be done in the next half of the year! Though now that I think about it, time’s gone real fast, we’re almost at half point anyway.
Truthfully, looking at how this game is being translated for so long, it’s going to be hard to imagine how things will be like after you finish and stop updating. It’s become one of my daily routines and everything…
Looking at the To-Do-List, it seems like the main hacking may be finished before summer starts. There’s only so much more left to do with the Battle Hacking, but I believe that the Main Script will provide plenty of challenges in its own way. Aside from that, it’s still hard to imagine how far you and your team has come with this translation.
I’ve told many of my friends both in real life and on the internet about this translation. I even helped to get more people into the series. It feels really good to be able to help the cause for all of this.
