Testing is Afoot
Testing began on Sunday, and so far, no major issues have been found at all. Excellent news.
In fact, so far, there’ve been fewer bugs than I was expecting. Only three minor things, one of which was because a fix I made in August got reverted somewhere along the line. It’s now fixed again. The other two are also pretty minor and can be seen below.
These should only take me a few hours to fix. An explanation about them is here for the curious.
Testing and polishing continues to continue, but from the sound of it, things are going awesomely ๐
yayayayaya I’m so excited. Thanks Mato!
ahhhh I can’t wait!
Hard for this to sink in… it’s actually going to happen. Amazing, amazing stuff. Hope things keep going well!
awesome, awesome to the max. i shall send you a unique bronze cast starman figurine

You’re the man.
Oh boy, here comes the final phase!! Damn this is intense.
OH BOY!!!
Hooray and whatnot! You’ve got this, guys!
Awesome work! I can’t thank you enough for everything you have done to bring the sequel to the greatest game ever made to us. You guys rule!
Mother3 used an unreadable attack,
Tomato used the ability to read Japanese,
Mother3 became readable,

You rule Mato! I’ve been lingering on this for awhile now but it’s finally nearly done! The wait is killing me! (well not literally but you get the point)
I can’t believe it’s almost done!!
I hope it will work on the Homebrew Channel’s VBA Emulator so I can play it on my TV.
SO EXCITED.
How many runs are each tester expected to make during the testing phase? During each run do they have to talk to every npc, interact with everything, etc?
I should play through Mother and Earthbound before the patch comes out so I can experience one seamless epic awesome-venture.

So, you do a comment every 4 days?
And should things not go awe-fully, since they are too awesome to be simply called “awesome”?
Doesn’t matter how long it takes, I will wait knowing that I will be able to play it when is ready.
Here’s a question, which maybe you’ve answered already, but I’m here all the time anyway so it seems unlikely- ANYWAY,
Once you release the patch and mass quantities of people are playing and a couple of bugs are found, are you going to fix those and rerelease another patch version with the fix? Or will it be “this glitch has been found, here’s how you can avoid doing it”? I wouldn’t expect you to have to be married to this thing once you release it, but do you think there’s a chance a serious game-breaking bug could still be in there after testing?
Yay! Testing is an appendage!
Come on… come on… finish!!
OH MAN!!! Can’t wait for the final release, thank you very much Mato.
Faux: I’m playing it by ear, since most everyone has a very busy schedule.
Jay: You can’t put percentages on stuff like this.
Doc: That’s because people understimate how crazy we are, especially me ๐
A fan: Actually it’s probably because I already did a playthrough before and we tested each of our individual hacks pretty well as we went along.
Mr. Nosy: Ever since the blog started, I’ve tried to have a progress update at least twice a week so the project won’t stall.
apteryx: Yes, it’s very likely to happen. Newer patch versions aren’t uncommon in the ROM translation scene at all. Bahamut Lagoon had 2 bugfix versions as I recall. But obviously we want the first version to be as playable and good as possible, since only a small percentage of people will actually come back to get new versions of the patch.
Here’s another question : Is it legal to do testing on a illegal rom with a patch ?
Do you really need to ask that question?
The testing police are a force to be reckoned with.

Sorry, couldn’t resist a bit of dark humor, there.
I am very impressed and appreciative of the time you spent and are spending on this. It took a lot of talent, determination, and will. Great job dude!
Infinite thanks and gratitude for you and the crew for making this a reality. Tens of thousands maybe even hundreds of thousands of fans are going to be eternally in your debt for this.

also, this is so bloody exciting ๐

Awesome news! Keep up the bug hunt! I really appreciate how thorough you guys are being.
OK, fixed this easily.
Now to look at the weird sleep mode text.
So close.
Already shopping for flash carts. (and is it just me, or did they all sell out everywhere as soon as you announced the hacking was done)
Mato angry. Mato SMASH bugs.
Why do I get the feeling that, when we get our hands on this, this will be the least buggy game I’ve played in years?
Seriously, I’ve had Spore freeze up multiple times, TF2 took months of patching, hell, even Tiger Woods 09 for the 360 clinches up on the start menu, and those were all games I still enjoyed.
Imagine – a game that’s fun to play AND runs smooth? Man, yes. I want to play this game.
Tomato, are you doing anything else other than fixing the text bugs and translating it from Japanese to English?
Will you be balancing the game (possibly in later patches) or anything?
Also, how is the atmosphere compared to Mother 2? The game looks much more inviting and less scarey.
Long time reader. First time poster.
I’ve been keeping an eye on this blog for exactly one year now. :OI
Keep up the great work, all of you! I can’t thank you all enough for putting up with the hard work involved in this translation patch.
a Gentleman and a Scholar: I dunno, I wouldn’t say that. But it will be decent. Like I mentioned, there are tiny tiny issues here and there that most people won’t notice, but they are there.
Jamian: No, we haven’t altered any of the gameplay stuff like that. Just translation pretty much.
——–
Anyway, I think I found out how to make the sleep mode bug happen, you use sleep mode once, leave, go to a main menu, leave, and try sleep mode again.
The problem though is that the no$gba debugger doesn’t emulate the sleep mode right, so I can’t leave sleep mode to find out what the problem is, heh. I’ll use voodoo.
SEX!
Now that I got your attention, I want to thank Mato, Jeffman and all the people involved in this project. Mother fans will finally be able to play this game after (2) years of waiting!
YEEEESS!
I’m thankful everything is still going underway. I’m still looking forward to this more than The Last Remnant. Atleast Mother 3 doesn’t have Johnny Bosch’s voice in it >_> And I swear I will hunt you down if you replaced one of those sounds with it.
I can’t believe how close we are! It seems like a dream, all this time I have been avoiding spoilers and have yet to play, but all this waiting will pay off! Thanks!
Thank you Mato! I want to unleash a bear on your children!
Jamian: You thought EB was scary?
Yo Mato, how come the font in the pictures is blue sometimes and black sometimes?
We change it to blue for testing purposes.
“all this time I have been avoiding spoilers and have yet to play, but all this waiting will pay off!”
Ah, then you’ll be especially shocked when you learn that Giygas is really Lucas’ father ๐
… and you’ll never guess who his sister is! ๐ฎ
What was the problem with the status icons, anyhow? Was it displaying the icon a bit too far to the left and erasing part of the ‘(‘ character?
It wasn’t properly allocating and initializing a sprite in a certain rare case.
Heya Mato, I’m a long time lurker first time poster.
Just another one of those guys who wants to thank you for all your hard work. It seems just yesterday that you were banging your head over sprite text wielding. Keep it up, your almost there!
I’m so excited to playing the final product, I’ve never followed a translation as close as I have with this one. ๐
I LOVE YOU MATO!!! <3 xoxo

Not bad! I can’t wait! *licks the steps you walk on* XD
Um, please stop saying such creepy praises, guys. Really.
WOOOOOOOOO I LOVE MATO <3
This is the only blog on the entire internet worth reading. <3
I have a feeling that when this is released, My GPA will drop from all the absences I’ll have due to playing this.
Alright, I see what’s going on with the sleep mode bug now, next step is seeing why it happens. It’d be MUCH easier if no$gba actually had sleep mode emulated, but it doesn’t, so this is like crawling around in the dark. I have to run three different emus at the same time at the same part to make any sense of what’s going on. Annoying.
That’s INTENSE!
Does anyone know where I can get a patcher that will work on my mac??????

Welcome to th
Tomato,
Aren’t you guys using byuu’s UPS format? A program for creating & applying UPS patches–both a binary and the source code–is available at his web site (byuu.cinnamonpirate.com/programming). Is this not what you mean when you talk about “the patching programs”?
I think Mato means we haven’t gotten a way to let you patch your rom with this translation hack easily yet.
It’s probably some crazy stuff that he does to get it to work instead of some easy UPS patch.
Carl: We might be making it based on his format but as a standalone program. This is for various reasons. We’re actually discussing how we’re going to do this right now.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apK7UDH8XK0
Hey keep it up mato
You know Mato, you really don’t need to fix the sleep mode text. I think it’s better th
Mato, have all the issues with the debug room been resolved as of yet? issues such as crashing when going into a chapter, names still in Japanese, etc?
debug room is fine now
You mean “Th way”
Hmm, so regardless of the sleep mode text bugging out, can you still exit it? And if you use sleep mode after that, will that bug out too?
Also, it seems rather odd that mother 3 even has a sleep mode. But, anyways, that’s not the point of my question.
One more thing, will the UPS patching utility be created before the patch comes out? it would suck if ultimately the patching program was the thing keeping people from playing.
there would be no point to releasing the patch otherwise
Oh I wish I was one of those chosen to test this wonderful patch, but then again I know that I don’t have the time nor the patience. Keep up the good work Mato and company, I will pray for you nine times!
Alright, figured out the underlying cause of the sleep mode thing. Now to see why the main menu causes this cause.
… Isn’t there one logical piece of the mother 3 coding? You make it sound like the developers came out of the ninth ring of hell just to code this game…
Glad to know that everything is going good!
I think the issue is more from an optimizing c compiler than idiot developers. No way to find out for sure though.
Keep up the great work!
and keep an eye out for bad guys…
So, uh… I noticed something. Didn’t the banner at the top of this site always say “The Unofficial MOTHER 3 Fan Translation”? Now the word unofficial seems to have gone missing. Or am I just seeing things?
Freakin’ awesome. Mato, you are the best tomato to ever have been harvested.
I noticed that before it said, ‘the united’ MOTHER 3 Translation Project, the word United seems to have gone missing, why is that, has the team split up or something?

He’s going to post the patch
To many people: read the FAQ, many answers in there.
——-
Alright, Jeff gave me a fix to make no$gba work with sleep mode. The problem seems to be that the programmers only intended for 40 letters max to be used here. There are three ways to fix this
1. shorten the text
2. do an entirely new sprite welding routine
3. do prewelding
I’m leaning toward 3, hopefully we can use Jeff’s prewelding hack for the credits. I don’t like option 1 because I’d have to break Nintendo’s official lot check requirement, which I’ve been abiding by all this time to be even extra professional. And translations into other languages will have even harder time fitting text under 40 letters I bet. Option 2… might as well buy me a coffin.
by prewelding, you mean sorta welding the sleep mode text to make it unmodifiable and such? Dunno how to explain it…
just weld it up and save the coffin for later… how do you know lot check guidelines!? =D
oh yeah, you’ve done official games before so you must have the SDK. cool.
lol
definitely skip the coffin route
Sprite Text welding is that bad?
I greatly underestimated your psychopathic devotion to perfection
Is it necessary to do the whole sleep mode thing? We will be playing the game on a computer so sleep mode wouldn’t be needed.
What happened to:
“Vagn: Why is it people want to cheat every time I post a bug? If we had cheated every step of the way, the thing would look like an inside-out creepy monster man and act just as bad.
Besides, whoโs to say prewelded text there wouldnโt fall victim in some cases? Better to make a real fix.”
?
His idea was to go straight for a cheap method without understanding the underlying cause. For all we knew, the bug could still have affected prewelded tiles, leaving us with the same problem. Now that we know the cause, we can choose from several proper choices.
bob:
Not everyone will be playing the game on a computer. I’m planning to use a flash cart to play on my actual MOTHER 3 GBA Micro, and I know just from reading the comments on this very blog that a fair number of fans have bought flash carts just to play this translation.
Well done on your job so far! You all deserve a free E-tank sports drink!
Now, if only I could wire one from japan..
Does this mean that the translation will be postponed significantly?
Also, I just thought of something, instead of trying to fix the sleep mode message, why not have a disclaimer at the beginning of the game saying that the sleep mode text is messed up, and telling the user how to access sleep mode?
Cart: I’m one of those people! The only game that’ll be loaded on my one is Mother3 (J)_[English].gba ๐
I really prefer an licensed game from Nintendo but we don’t have a choice. :/
Thanks Mato for the continued updates!
zeldarocks: calm down. if there was going to be a big problem or delay, I would say so. This is a very very minor bug.
Zeldarocks: Then it wouldn’t be a professional patch if they put a disclaimer.
Dear god! Its almost here!
Feels like christmas!
I wonder why anyone would enter sleep mode in a ROM.
Because people might be playing it on real hardware.
Must…get….flash cart…..NAO!
But in all seriousness, if you’ve played the game in Japanese, it looks like a whole different game. (Wow, bad grammar there.)
In English, it looks like a game, whereas in Japanese, it looks like electronic story book.
BACKUPS MATO NOW FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WE DONT NEED ANOTHER STAR OCEAN
..anyway. Are you aware the debug menu is a tad screwed with the menu patch?
Going to certain chapters crashes the game, so does going to the key items menu and scrolling “down” if you use the debug menu to go to certain chapter.
Also going to a chapter via debug menu makes Kumatora’s name crazy glitchiness on the right side of the screen.
….<_< You probably already know all this.
Do savestates ever interfere with the sprite text or other stuff? I ask this because with certain games when I load a savestate the screen is a bunch of gobbledygook. I didn’t know if this was being tested or not.
It’s not recommended you use old savestates with the translation. Instead, you’ll want to take the actual save file (not the savestate), run it through the name convertor we’ll upload, and then use that with the translation.
I noticed the Y and G’s go 1 pixel onto the border, please fix this or I wont play the game!
Just kidding, I cant wait till its finally done. ๐
Thank you for the reply, but I was referring more to the savestates created from a patched version of the rom, as I couldn’t take reading only japanese long enough to form a savefile.
By “patched version of the rom”, do you mean a rom with the menu patch? If so, then what I said above still holds.
If you’re talking about whether or not savestates work with the real translation, then yes. I make and use like 50 bazillion new savestates a day personally.
*does a dance and gives you some pants*
Keep it up! ๐
Mato, which emulator do you think would run Mother 3 the best?
hey how long do u think till this is 100% done with testing
hope it works with visualboy advanceโโโโโ
Well good luck with fixing that sleep bug Mato. I thought about coming up with a witty smart ass remark to say… but then I realized we all just want to get this patch out so it wouldn’t accomplish anything.
*Generic Praises* and such.
Mato has already given us an estimate…………dag yo, wait a bit longer. It’s been what? More than a year?
VGK-san: “BACKUPS MATO NOW ___ ___ ____ __ ___ WE DONT NEED ANOTHER STAR OCEAN”
He does make backups. However, what do you mean by “another Star Ocean”?
@Mr.Nosy: Mato was doing a Star Ocean translation. When it was nearing completion, his hard drive died and he had no recent back-ups.
ohh man am i excited
I notice your appearances have gone from sporadic and unpredictable to intermittent drop-ins. It must be fantastic to be done with all of that coding.
Also, hi Majora
Do NOT die in the next few weeks! You have to finish this!
Also, Mother 3 or Earthbound 2?
It’s been mentioned before, and is in the FAQ. I’ll be named Mother 3.
Question! Why are you focusing on no$gba? i would’ve thought visualboyadvance would be the standard. it’s a more competent, faster emulator.
Awesome!
Again, so close to being done!
I bet the testing will be done by the end of either this week, to the end of October!
I’m so excited! =D
Mato himself appears to be using VBA-M & no$gba, so yeah, plain VBA should work fine (and there was a link somewhere to VBA-M, which has some improvements merged in that aren’t essential).
As for the hack, I just hope that it can use the nice prewelding code because that will make things easy for Mato. Though I guess we could look for Solar Boy Django and see if he has a spare coffin for Mato. There was that one nifty coffin they couldn’t escape from, after all… ๐
I went to the future and saw myself playing this game on my PSP in one week…
…or was it two weeks?
I didn’t check the calender for how long in the future I’ve been.
What kid of button is a “th”!? ๐
Wow, this seems to be almost done. After Mother3 gets over it’s problems with the word ‘the’ that is. I’ve got to go buy a flash cart soon or the patch will be out before I can play it.
Wahoo. I just had (more) eye surgery, and as soon as I could see again, I I checked this site. Your updates make me happy.

Handsome Hobo:
The FAQ actually says, in reference to which name (MOTHER 3 or EARTHBOUND 2) will be used, that “it hasn’t been decided yet.”
Pitch:
I’m sure Tomato will chime in with more details, but I understand that he’s previously done translation work for games on Nintendo consoles, and is referring to their rules about the way controller buttons and other such things must be referenced in the in-game text. As I recall, it has to say, for example, “press the A *button*,” and not just “press A.” I presume that’s why he’s reticent to shorten the sleep-mode text to say something like “press L & R” instead of “Press the L and R buttons” (or whatever the actual text is).
Yes, each console maker distributes very detailed documents about how things absolutely MUST be done in games, including programming practices, references to hardware/parts of hardware, etc. They’re very very strict about these things, and whenever you submit a game before you release it, it has to pass the rigorous requirements or it’s rejected. Here’s one story involving this lot check stuff. Look around on Google for lot check stuff, it’s pretty interesting and you can see how anal the lot check guys have to be about stuff.
I’ve done a few professional game translations on a couple different systems, including the GBA, so I got some of this info luckily. So I’ve been abiding by the same rules that would apply to official games as much as possible. I doubt many will notice/care, but it’s neat anyway.
Looks like the home stretch. You guys are amazing. Thank you.
Fernando Pando: We use the debugger version of no$gba to do the hacking.
That lot check business reminds me of a really fascinating article by a LucasArts employee about porting MANIAC MANSION to the NES and the various roadblocks they encountered from Nintendo. It was mostly about content/censorship issues–the popular NES version of the game is still rather twisted, but a lot of great stuff from the PC original got left out. The article is definitely worth reading if you’re interested in this kind of thing:
http://www.crockford.com/wrrrld/maniac.html
are you guys paying attention to the nintendo conference in japan right now? they are ripping the GBA slot out of the new DS:
http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/10/liveblogging-th.html
Well its great that no major issues have been found in the many hours of testing that has been done and by the way Iam sorry if you answered this question before but how many people are testing it ?
My my. I can’t believe, after this long, the translation is almost done.
You guys are testing this on the PSP, right? How is that faring? I noticed that GBA emulation on the PSP is near flawless, compared to SNES…
Mato: I’m not sure if this is the problem at all, if not just ignore me but why not just get rid of the parenthesis? There not 110% necessary. If that’s not the cause just forget it! lol ๐
Guys, relax gees. You post all these comments about delays and stuff and im shocked Mato replys to as many as he does! So you end up taking more of his time!
I been checking this blog every 1-3 days since its started. So I think if I can wait until its done’ while being a quite and happy person. Then the rest of you can wait to without asking a question or being worried about deadlines. From the start it’s been clearly stated no deadlines will ever be given and no timelines will be stated.

I just replayed Earthbound and got nearly halfway through it in a day. I was wondering–would you rate Mother 3 to be as comical as Earthbound? I know it has funny elements just from the pictures, but which, in your opinion, is funnier?
Also, one more question. In Earthbound, the game has enemies in various points of the game that give insane amounts of experience and are killed rather easily (like the bugs in the first sanctuary and those pink fluff guys in Belch’s Lair). Does Mother 3 have these types of monsters, and how often?
Thanks for any response.
hey i just registered 4 this and i just want 2 say i appreciate the work b/c this can’t b easy. u guys rock cuz since 1999 i heard of the first mother 3 project but am finally getting 2 c it being translated. so much 2 say but thanx mother 3 translation group!!
Yay, yes. There are enemies that do that.
I’m getting really excited by all this as well. I’ve been watching this for the past 6 months or so and so happy that it’s getting so close to completion. I’m still patiently waiting that email that says “We’re done!” ๐
Hey Mato, what PSP emulators will you be testing on?
I was only curious because I have gpSP Kai, and I want to make sure this’ll work on it.
I don’t know, I figure exophase would test it on his emulator, but he hasn’t been around for a long time. I wonder if he knows it’s testing time.
I played through the entire menus patch on my psp

Hey Mato, can you please tell me how I can play Mother 3 on my DS?
*smacks people* let mato work, more questions you ask the more its delayed
Please read the faq before you post guys, most of the questions that are being spammed here are clearly addressed in there. Also, there is a huge thread on the spill over board regarding DS carts and such (you can go there by clicking the big white button above where you post on this blog). Discussion of where to get such flash carts is not wanted though, as it could put this project in a negative light with the big N (and plus a simple google would help you find whatever you want).
I just wanted to know do I need one Flash Cart or more.
Heh, I have a feeling that by the time it’s done, this will be one of the most professional fan translations of a game ever ๐

How, where and when did you learn to hack these beautiful games, Tomato? ๐ I’m extremely curious. I’m working on a NES/Famicom project myself, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions.
As far as I’m concerned, this 6502 Debugging stuff is moonspeak, but I know what to look for. The only thing that’s bugging me is adding stuff — I know I can expand data, but there’s a lot of blank space too. I want to add difficulty data, unlockables, retranslate, and add data for the unused items — to name off a few things that boggle me. Everything else I’ve handled easily — correcting typos, improving control, uncensoring graphics, and more junk like that.

Also hi Starman
where did all these would-be ee cummings types come from?
I’m almost done with Earthbound, just in time for this hella exiting projects conclusion! pretty cool inside-the-industry (but-actually-outside-after-all) type stuff.
Nappa: Vegeta check mato hacking level.
Vegeta:”checks hacking level”…..ITS OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!
Nappa: WHAT 9000?????
I could’ve sworn Veget had said “it’s over FIVE thousand”, not nine
No GBA slot in the DSi? Great, now I’m stuck with my DS Lite with the unresponsive L and R buttons. And just when I thought I’d have no difficulties playing my Mother 3 on the flash cart I don’t have.
Nope. It’s over nine thousand. With enthusiasm, unlike mine.
With all this hacking and testing of the sleep mode, I hope it doesn’t effect mato’s sleep mode.

You guys hear that punch out is the reviving series? Too bad…
At least Kid Icarus would have been ok, let alone Earthbound ๐
Alright, that’s fixed. Jeff added some stuff to his prewelder program (which he made originally for the end credits) and I wrote a hack to use his new stuff. It now works and that problem doesn’t show up. Pre-welded, it all takes up 21 sprites, before we were going way over the max of 40.
I haven’t heard any issues from the testers yesterday or today so far.
Sweet!
The pikmin 3 is just gonna be a copy of the original too:(
No Ness Ninten or Lucas at the entire conference*cry*

Wow, this is awesome. So close. Although when the translation is complete I’m gonna miss checking the blog every here and then for some reason. YOU GUYS RULE!
Yes Mato you did it… bet you’re eager to face what’s next eh?
So mato, would you say that testing is going better than you anticipated?
Oh, man, I’m excited.
You guys are so freakin’ amazing.
Three cheers for Mato!
OMG its almost done i just love you guys and by th
Lmao, Mato why were you such a jerk when I suggested that the other day?

I’ve been waiting for this since I was about 15. That’s a rough guess maybe earlier though I doubt it. Anyway I’m now 17. You guys are gods. Fucking good luck with life. You dedicated too much time to us fans and I wish I could repay you somehow. All I have to give is my endless gratitude for allowing to experience the sequel of one of my favorite games. Freaking thank you.
Alright, in any event I was just trying to help. Good luck on the home stretch!
MY INFINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNITE GRATITUDE GOES OUT TOWARD YOU.
And another bug kicks the metaphorical bucket!
This random scenario just popped into my head as I was typing this post.
Mall Santa: And what would you like for Christmas this year, little boy?
Boy: The English version of MOTHER 3.
Santa: The English what?
*15 minute overview of the entire MOTHER series*
Santa: …That sounds very interesting, little boy! In fact, MOTHER 3 for the whole world!
Person 1: What’s he talking about?
Person 2: They let another drunk play Santa this year?
…Please don’t ask.
That was hilarious. Cookies to you, whoever you are.
Mato, would it be possible to pitch this project to Nintendo directly so that it can be released commercially, and legally?
Honestly? No. They have their business reasons for not releasing it to begin with and they wouldn’t acknowledge a fan translation anyhow.
So if they were planning to do it, they’d have done it themselves. They wouldn’t just sign off on someone else’s project. That said, some NOA employees probably *will* play the patch.
In the mean time, I’m going to sincerely hope that these are the last bugs found. Then after some testing and packaging up of everything, we can start playing this! ๐
yeah but there’s bound to be a few more minor bugs… but it wont hold back the release date beyond a few days i dont think…
waw……. i just realized that in not too long from now.. i wont have this blog to come and check every time im bored…….
….. damn…what am i gonna do with myself? im gonna have to hope things end up workng out with me and that girl
What do you think are the odds of Nintendo suddenly deciding to stop the translation? We’re sooo close!
In relation to the DSi, things may or may not be lost. Depending on the hardware, unless it’s identical to the DS, it may be feasible to emulate the GBA effectively. That would take time, though. :-\
i miss secret links
Hey Mato.
When it comes to game translations, does it become harder translating games as they make more
ROMs of recent games?
Nice, Mato. Everyone’s hard work is paying off! Be sure to “Go for it!”
I sure hope Nintendo doesn’t kill the DS GBA slot. That will not be good for GBA games like Mother 3.
I was searching for a cool lolcat picture with a Tomato to post here when this showed up:

I love you, Mato.
Monsuco: They killed the GBA slot. :/
Mato’s been really on edge lately. But who can blame him? All these cheering fanboys and girls shoutng “OMG MATO U DA BES” would get on my nerves too.
It’s cause so many people want to bare my children ๐ฏ
bear* your children. I’d be worried about people who want to “bare” your children. That’s not appropriate.
Tomato = http://faqsmedia.ign.com/faqs/image/ani093.gif
I think he did that on purpose. ๐
I do not want to bare your children. That would be weird on a biological sense.
“bare” was on purpose; somebody recently (can’t remember exactly when) told him that
Oh MAN I can’t wait to play this game on my imported Nintendo DSi
oh wait
You know what thought just popped into my head? What if Mato was actually translating this officially for Nintendo, and he’s gonna announce it when all the hacking and testing was done. It’d be like Nintendo gave him the ok to make a blog to see how many fans it’d have, and to surprise everyone after it was all done. It’d be the perfect plan, kinda.
Anyhow, I’m pretty sure that’s not that case. It’s gonna be so awesome though^^ Keep up the good work Mato.
Oh, I missed the “bare” joke, then. HOORAY FOR ME BEING AN ARSE.
Also, was the thing about him eating dreams here on a different post? It’s all a blur of hundreds of random, insane comments. Hooray. ;[
I’m secretly hoping Nintendo already know about this and are letting you proceed with translating. All this time, all the referrals, yet nothing from Nintendo stopping you?
Yeah. They probably know already.
No news is always good news. Is it kind of stressful just waiting for testers to come and tell you how you screwed up?
Mato-san: “[So] many people want to bare my children[.]”
Blank-san: “[B]ear* your children.”
I want everone to cease these type of comments!
Mr. Nosy: I want you to cease giving orders and stop saying “san,” in English it makes no sense.
No, seriously, do whatever you want but don’t tell people what to do. :/ (I guess it’s a little ironic that I’m TELLING you not to TELL people what to do.)
…um, go Mato!
